This year, I’ve decided to skip a fair I was regularly attending, the Cannes FIJ, and to instead go to a much farther one, GAMA, in Louisville, Kentucky. I’ve made this choice for several reasons.
• Since I have retired from my day job as a teacher, I am no more constrained by school holidays and can change a bit my old schedule. I used to meet more or less the same people in the same place every year, attending more exotic fairs or smaller game fairs, like I did last year in Birmingham and Taipei, is an opportunity to meet publishers I’ve never seen so far.
I’ve already many appointments in Louisville but I’ve still a few free spots in my schedule, mostly on Monday afternoon and Thursday. If interested, message me.
• GAMA is also this year, more than Cannes, where new games of mine will be presented. A new US publisher, Gamehead, will show it’s starting line-up, with US versions of two games of mine which had not yet been distributed there. The first one will be Venture Angels, a light and fun auction game. I’m not sure I can already speak of the next one. I will be showing them at the Gamehead booth, 725, Wednesday at 11:30 am and Thursday at 2 pm.
• More importantly, two really new games of mine will be shown by my friends at Trick or Treat Studios Games.
Trollympics is a dice and card drafting designed with Camille Mathieu and set in the same zany fantasy universe as Trollfest. Draft your best team of orcs, trolls and elves to win medals in Unicorn Rodeo, Dwarf Tossing and Synchronized Crowdsurfing.
The game I’m really excited about, and the true reason I’m making the trip, is Treasure of the Dwarves. It is a big box game, something I’ve not done for long, and, in my opinion, my best game ever. It handles 3 to 8 people and has auctions, bluffing, interaction, pesky dwarves and tons of magic items.
I will be demoing with the Trick or Treat team at Game Night Tables on Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 8 pm.
During the day, the Trick or Treat Booth, 904, will be my operational basecamp, so you can always walk there with a good chance to meet me.
• I will also take part in a discussion panel about “Building a Long-term Creative Career in Tabletop“, Tuesday at 5pm in Ballroom E.
I hope to see you there.
