Citadelles et Diamant sont sans doute mes deux jeux qui se vendent le mieux et le plus régulièrement. Ce sont aussi les deux seuls pour lesquels, pour diverses raisons, j’ai plusieurs contrats d’édition, selon les zones géographiques. J’en ai quatre pour Citadelles, même si trois des éditeurs concernés ont fini dans le giron d’Asmodée. Alan Moon et moi avons un contrat avec Iello qui publie Diamant en Europe, et un autre avec Gryphon Games pour Incan Gold, qui est le même jeu, dans le reste du monde.
Les deux éditeurs sont très sympathiques, font du bon boulot et entretiennent de bonnes relations, même s’ils se retrouvent un peu en concurrence, ayant tous les deux une version du jeu en langue anglaise, l’une pour le marché anglais et l’autre pour le marché américain.
Un peu par hasard, ils viennent tous deux d’annoncer une nouvelle édition du jeu. La nouvelle boite Iello est un peu plus petite,et un peu moins chère que la précédente, mais le matériel est toujours aussi luxueux, voire plus, et les illustrations pleines d’humour. La nouvelle boite Gryphon Games comprend l’extension Mise en garde et Trahison, qui est aussi disponible séparément pour ceux qui ont l’ancienne version du jeu. Si j’ai bien compris, cette extension restera publiée à part en Europe.

Citadelles and Diamant / Incan Gold are my best sellers or, at least, my game which sell the most regularly. They are also the only game for which, due to old stories, I have different publishing contracts for different geographical areas. I have four contracts for Citadels, even when three of the publishers ended being bought by Asmodee. Alan Moon and I signed one contract with Iello for the European Market, where the game is sold as Diamant, and one with Gryphon games for the rest of the world, where it is known as Incan Gold.
Both publishers are nice people doing a good job, and they are in friendly terms even when they both sell an English language version of the game, one for the English market and one in the US.
It happens that they both announced, at the same time, new versions of the game. The new iello Diamant box is slightly smaller and cheaper than the old one, but the components are as gorgeous, if not more, and the art bright and humorous. The new Incan Gold edition includes the new Dangers expansion, which is also available separately for owners of the older versions. If I got it right, the expansion will still be sold separately in Europe.
