Je pensais que ce n\u2019\u00e9tait qu\u2019une faute de fran\u00e7ais; les r\u00e9actions auxquelles je me suis heurt\u00e9 ont montr\u00e9 que le probl\u00e8me \u00e9tait plus s\u00e9rieux et plus inqui\u00e9tant, et relevait de la m\u00eame vision technicienne du jeu, absurde parce que r\u00e9ductrice, \u00e0 laquelle le jeu video est enfin et p\u00e9niblement en train d&#8217;\u00e9chapper.<br \/>\nJe me trouve aujourd\u2019hui un peu face au m\u00eame probl\u00e8me en voyant les couvertures de beaucoup de jeux publi\u00e9s ces derniers mois. Lorsque les jeux sont abondamment et joliment illustr\u00e9s, ce qui est de plus en plus fr\u00e9quent, auteur et illustrateur sont de plus en plus souvent cit\u00e9s sur la boite de jeu de mani\u00e8re similaire, ce qui est tr\u00e8s bien. Une habitude venue de la bande dessin\u00e9e est en train de s\u2019installer, qui consiste \u00e0 indiquer le r\u00f4le de chacun par une petite ic\u00f4ne. Pour les auteurs, en revanche, l\u2019ic\u00f4ne repr\u00e9sente le plus souvent des engrenages, ce qui revient \u00e0 ramener un jeu \u00e0 sa m\u00e9canique. La m\u00e9canique est l\u2019essence de certains jeux, mais pas de tous, loin de l\u00e0. La cr\u00e9ation ludique est une dialectique mettant en jeu des m\u00e9canismes, des th\u00e8mes, des r\u00e9f\u00e9rences, des clins d\u2019\u0153il. Ce n\u2019est certes pas tout \u00e0 fait un boulot d\u2019\u00e9crivain, mais ce n\u2019est pas non plus un boulot d\u2019ing\u00e9nieur. La bonne ic\u00f4ne me semble \u00eatre celle choisie entre autres par Iello ou Bombyx, une ampoule, repr\u00e9sentation d\u2019id\u00e9es qui peuvent \u00eatre aussi bien litt\u00e9raires que techniques. I thought it was just a vocabulary mistake. The reactions I faced proved the issue was deeper and more worrying, revealing an absurd and reductive technician conception of boardgames, the same one video games are slowly and painfully getting rid of.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I have the same problems when looking at the covers of many recently published boardgames. The quality of boardgames illustrations improved greatly these last years. More and more often, both the designer and illustrator are named on the box cover, which is fair. As is already the case for comics scriptwriter and illustrator, game designer and illustrator are often differentiated with small icons. The designer icon is usually gears, which is problematic because it implies that the designer\u2019s job is only to design the game mechanisms. Mechanisms are the core part of many games, but not of all. Game design is a dialectical mix between mechanics, settings, references and winks. It\u2019s not literary writing, but it\u2019s also not technical work. The best icon is probably the one used by Iello, Bombyx and a few other publishers, a light bulb &#8211; it just suggests ideas, which can be both technical or literary.
