Halloween Party est une nouvelle version d\u2019un jeu de cartes d\u00e9j\u00e0 assez ancien, con\u00e7u avec Gwena\u00ebl Bouquin, et originellement publi\u00e9 il y a une quinzaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es sous le nom de Toc Toc Toc !<\/a> Les quelques modifications apport\u00e9es aux r\u00e8gles \u00e0 l\u2019occasion de cette nouvelle \u00e9dition visent \u00e0 rendre le jeu plus vari\u00e9, plus tendu et plus \u00e9quilibr\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n

Le principe est tout simple. Chaque joueur a une main de cartes et, \u00e0 son tour, pose une carte personnage face cach\u00e9e devant un autre joueur en disant \u00ab toc toc toc ! \u00bb. Le joueur devant lequel est pos\u00e9 la carte doit alors choisir entre ouvrir la porte, et laisser le personnage entrer, rejoignant ainsi sa petite f\u00eate de Halloween, ou refuser d\u2019ouvrir, auquel cas le personnage s\u2019en va chez le joueur qui avait d\u2019abord jou\u00e9 la carte. Bien s\u00fbr, si la plupart des convives sont bienvenus, et certains, comme les musiciens, particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9s, d\u2019autres doivent \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9s avec soin, comme les ivrognes ou le terrible chevaliers ans t\u00eate. La pioche \u00e9tant face visible, chacun finit par savoir plus ou moins quelles cartes les autres joueurs ont en main, et l\u2019on peut essayer de deviner ce qu\u2019ils nous proposent. C\u2019est donc un jeu de bluff tout simple, accessible aux plus jeunes mais assez fourbe pour s\u00e9duire les joueurs avertis<\/p>\n\n\n

 Lorsque la sympathique \u00e9quipe am\u00e9ricaine de Trick or Treat m\u2019a contact\u00e9, \u00e0 la recherche de jeux de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 dont le th\u00e8me pourrait leur convenir, c\u2019est bien s\u00fbr ce jeu qui m\u2019est d\u2019abord naturellement venu \u00e0 l\u2019esprit. Je ne suis pas le seul \u00e0 avoir fait le m\u00eame raisonnement puisque Emerson Matsuuchi leur a propos\u00e9 son Tricks and Treats, dans lequel les joueurs sont des enfants rivaux allant de maison en maison, essayant de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer les meilleurs bonbons. Je n\u2019 ai pas encore jou\u00e9 \u00e0 Trick and Treats, mais je suis \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s certains que c\u2019est aussi le genre de petit jeu de bluff que mes amis et moi appr\u00e9cierons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halloween Party is a new and version of an older game, Knock Knock<\/a>!, designed with Gwena\u00ebl Bouquin and originally published more or less fifteen years ago. There has been a few changes in the rules, mostly for more tension, more variability and a better balance.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

\n
\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The idea is extremely simple. Each player has a small hand of cards and, on their turn, plays a face-down character card in front of another player, saying \u201cknock, knock!\u201d. The player in front of whom the card was played can either open the door, and let the character enter their Halloween party, or keep the door closed, in which case the character moves to the party of the player who initially played the card. Of course, while most guests are welcome, and a few ones like the musicians sought-after, other ones, like drunkards or the harrowing headless horseman, should better be avoided. The drawing deck being face-up, every player ends up having some idea of the cards in other players\u2019 hands, and can therefore try to make an informed guess of who is knocking at the door. This makes for a simple bluffing game, which can be played with kids but still has enough subtlety for old poker players.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

When the team at Trick or Treat Studios, wanting to start a fittingly themed boardgame line, contacted me, this one immediately jumped to my mind. I was not the only one thinking this way, since Emerson Matsuuchi proposed his Tricks and Treats, in which players are rival kids going from house to house, trying to get the best candies. I\u2019ve not played Trick and Treats yet, but it also looks like the kind of light bluffing game me and my friends are likely to enjoy playing. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
